Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

ꕤ ꕤ ꕤ

Who do you work with?

I work with teens (ages 13–18) and adults (18+) across Texas. My practice works with people navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, identity exploration, neurodivergence, chronic illness, trauma, grief, burnout, and relational boundaries. I offer LGBTQIA+ affirming, disability-affirming, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming care.

Do you work with teens?

Yes. I offer virtual counseling for teens ages 13–18 across Texas, supporting concerns such as anxiety, stress, school pressure, identity development, emotional overwhelm, and neurodivergent identity, including ADHD and autism..

How does counseling work for teens?

For teens (13–18), counseling may include intentional parent or caregiver involvement when helpful. Collaboration is handled thoughtfully to support the teen while respecting developmental boundaries and confidentiality. Sessions are held virtually in a secure, confidential format.

What does parent or caregiver involvement look like?

Parent or caregiver involvement is discussed during the intake process and may include periodic check-ins, collaboration around goals, or support with resources, depending on the needs of the teen and family. The focus remains on creating a supportive environment that honors the teen’s autonomy and growth.

Is this individual therapy or family therapy?

I provide individual therapy for teens and adults. While parent or caregiver collaboration may be included intentionally when helpful for teens, this is not family therapy. The primary focus remains on supporting the individual client while respecting developmental boundaries and confidentiality.

What is your approach to therapy?

My approach is gentle, collaborative, and affirming. I work from trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and disability-informed perspectives, honoring the many ways brains and bodies move through the world. Therapy is tailored to your unique needs and experiences rather than following a one-size-fits-all model.

What therapy modalities are you trained in?

I am trained in and draw from several evidence-based approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including trauma-informed and mindfulness-based applications

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

  • Person-Centered Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

  • Existential Therapy

  • Motivational Interviewing

With teens and adults, these approaches are integrated flexibly and adapted to developmental needs and individual preferences. Sessions may include conversation, creative or activity-based interventions, visual supports, or structured tools when helpful. Accommodations are thoughtfully incorporated to support a range of intellectual, developmental, sensory, and emotional needs, with care tailored to what feels most accessible and supportive for each person.

What can I expect in the first session?

In the first session, we’ll explore what brought you here and what feels most important to focus on. There is no pressure to have everything figured out.

We’ll talk about your goals, concerns, and what support might look like for you. Therapy moves at a pace that feels manageable and aligned with what you need right now, and you are always welcome to ask questions along the way.

Do I have to talk about everything right away?

No. Therapy moves at a pace that feels manageable and aligned with what you need at the time. You are always in control of what you share, and there is no expectation to talk about difficult topics before you’re ready.

Do you offer virtual therapy?

Yes. All sessions are provided virtually to teens and adults across Texas. This allows for greater flexibility and accessibility while maintaining privacy and comfort.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes. I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation by phone or secure video. This gives us a chance to connect, discuss what you’re looking for, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.

How do I know if you’re the right fit for me or my teen?

Finding the right therapeutic fit matters. The free consultation is a space to ask questions, share what you’re hoping for, and get a sense of whether working together feels comfortable and supportive. You’re never obligated to move forward if it doesn’t feel like the right match.

Do you accept insurance?

I currently accept insurance through Headway, including Aetna, Anthem EAP, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Texas, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, and Quest Behavioral Health. If you don’t see your plan listed or prefer private pay, you’re welcome to reach out to discuss options, including sliding-scale availability.

Do you assign homework or worksheets?

I don’t assign mandatory homework. When worksheets, reflection tools, or educational materials are used, they are offered as optional supports and introduced collaboratively. There is no expectation to complete anything outside of sessions unless it feels helpful and accessible to you.

What are the resources and materials on your website for?

The Resources & Educational Materials page includes optional worksheets and reflection tools intended to support awareness and grounding. These materials are for general educational purposes and are not a substitute for therapy. Some resources are publicly available, and additional materials may be offered to current clients as part of individualized care.
